The Story
MaryLou Fishers Gallery was established back in 1984, and is located in a historic 1804 home on the Guilford Green.
The philosophy at the gallery/framing shop revolves around the idea that THE CUSTOMER IS THE KEY ELEMENT to success. The number one concern is customer service, and working to provide newcomers and veteran patrons with original artwork and framing that meets their needs.
The gallery features nationally and internationally recognized contemporary artists and their one-of-a-kind pieces. Some of the artists have work in the Smithsonian, The Whitney Museum of Fine Art and the Chicago Institute of Fine Art to name a few, and we feel privileged to showcase and sell their paintings in our gallery.
In 2001, The New York Times writer William Zimmer traveled to
our gallery to review one of our artists: Jerry
McLaughlin. Below is an excerpt from that review:
It is refreshing when an artist in his mid-70s displays more energy and imagination that many younger painters, especially when both of these qualities are well disciplined. For the viewer, a retinal adjustment is required.
So come see Jerry McLaughlins work in our permanent collection,
as well as the other fabulous paintings we have on display. And
while youre at it, grab a cappuccino around the corner and
explore historical downtown Guilford.
